The Scientific Council provides a framework for academic advice, publishing development and review standards, connecting editorial work with disciplinary expertise while preserving independent assessment and clear responsibilities.
Academic role
The Council advises on scholarly priorities, series proposals and the general criteria used to assess publications. It contributes to discussions of scope and coherence in collective projects. Membership does not automatically guarantee a manuscript’s acceptance or imply personal endorsement of every work published by the press.
Independence and integrity
Advice is provided with regard to competing interests and manuscript confidentiality. Scholarly advice is distinguished from commercial service decisions and routine management. Members do not assess their own work as independent reviewers, and involvement in evaluation is organised with explicit roles and responsibilities.
Complementary expertise
The Council’s remit relates to the press’s fields, from the humanities, social sciences, business, law and Islamic studies to basic sciences, engineering, computing, health, agriculture and the environment. Disciplinary coverage is based on actual expertise; experts are not asked to make detailed judgements outside their competence.
Membership and profiles
Membership is displayed after formal approval and consent, with accurate names, titles, affiliations and disciplines. Profiles may include an approved biography and research links; private contact details are not published without permission. Information is updated when roles change or appointments end.
Scholarly collaboration
The press welcomes enquiries from specialists interested in advisory work, project development or subject review. Send a brief account of expertise, affiliation and research links to the official email address. Appointments and assignments require review and approval; an initial enquiry does not automatically confer a public role.
The Scientific Council supports academic guidance and the development of the publishing programme. Memberships are published after formal approval and consent.
