Journals and serials

HomeJournals and serials

Developing a serial publication is an ongoing editorial and organisational undertaking. The press considers journal projects within a clear plan for scope, editorial responsibilities, issues, review and access policies.

What a journal project requires

A proposal needs a defined discipline and readership, responsibilities, an issue and submission programme, peer-review and ethics policies, complaints handling, rights arrangements and digital preservation. The ability to sustain these commitments is considered before a project is represented as an established journal.

Editorial and production support

Services may include article templates, metadata, abstract and reference checks, issue typesetting, article and issue presentation, and author communication according to the agreed scope. Editors, journal titles and identifiers require approval and verification before public display.

Serials and books are distinct

Serial identifiers and registration follow the relevant system; ISBN is not used as an automatic substitute for a journal identifier. Indexing, metrics or database partnerships are not claimed before verification. This page describes project services and does not represent a catalogue of journals that have not been established.

Begin with an assessable plan

Contact the press with the proposed title, discipline, languages, team and issue plan, and explain what has been completed and where support is needed. The next step follows an assessment of the proposal. Scholarly journal management is distinguished from design or technical publishing services alone.
