Accurate publishing data gives each edition a clear, traceable identity. For books approved for publication, the press coordinates identifier and deposit procedures and checks the title, edition and format before printing any number.
What we arrange for authors
We arrange the requirements for ISBN allocation through the responsible agency and coordinate the process for obtaining a legal-deposit number from the National Library and Archives in Baghdad under the applicable procedures. This includes organising publication details, coordinating required copies and documents, and recording verified identifiers after they are issued.
The International Standard Book Number
An ISBN identifies a book in a particular edition and publication format and supports bibliographic description, ordering and distribution. We do not reuse another title’s number or print an identifier before its allocation is verified. A change of edition or format is assessed for its identifier requirements. Journals and other serials follow a different identification system from standalone books.
Deposit with the National Library and Archives
Deposit is pursued in accordance with the requirements of the responsible public authority in Baghdad, with author, publisher, title and approved-edition details checked for consistency. Authors provide the necessary information and permissions, while the press clarifies the services included and any outstanding requirements. Completion dates or approval are not represented as guaranteed before the process is concluded.
Identifiers are not peer-review certificates
An ISBN or deposit number does not replace scholarly quality, constitute peer review or guarantee recognition for academic promotion or inclusion in a particular index. The press provides accurate metadata and carries out the agreed editorial route; universities, databases and public authorities apply their own independent criteria.
Copyright page and approved edition
The copyright page is checked for the correct imprint and author, title, edition, publication year, rights and access terms, and identifiers actually issued. Future editions are updated on a verified basis. The approved edition remains the reference for consistency across the cover, interior and online catalogue.
